(Once again, the photo is completely unrelated to this post.)
To pull-up or not to pull-up (at night that is)?
G is potty trained and we skipped the whole pull-up at night thing...going straight to undies 24/7.
He had done great, but now I've noticed G is consistently waking up wet at night. UGH!
I even tried the other night to wake G, as we were going to bed, and take him to the potty. That did not work. He was sleeping on the john.
I really don't want to take steps backward and put pull-ups on him.
Hmmm? I'm confused.

I'm a fan of pull ups at night. During the day accidents are one thing (like not wanting to stop playing to go potty), but middle of the night accidents are another. His body might not be ready to tell him to wake up to go. During the night, its not laziness causing the accident...it strictly could be a body maturity thing. Just my 2 cents. :)
P.S. That's one cute little explorer you got there.
Bethany, I agree 100% with Tracy. That was the biggest problem with Emily is she would wake up wet because she was not waking up to go potty. He will get it soon, but pull ups at night are a wonderful thing. And he is a cute explorer. Love you all
We transitioned Jax at 3.5 years out of pull-ups at night although he was daytrained at 2.5, and it was perfect timing for him. I'm just getting ready to do the same with Maddex and he's not quite 3.5.
I used to get up around 4 am and have Jax go potty when I was first attempting it all and it worked great, but I got tired of doing it:) I ended up just putting the pull-ups on until I noticed he had about a week of being dry all night.
Don't look at it as a step backwards. It's really not. Pull ups for a few months will save you and Gabe a lot of aggrevation. It's no fun waking up to a wet bed - for either one of you.
I just added pull ups to my shopping list ;-)
Can't wait til Tuesday!!!!!!
We didn't even try to train Ansley at night when we realized that she had a good handle on being day-trained; it seems like a totally different animal, waking from a deep sleep to get up and go to the bathroom... She wore Pull-ups for a good while. Once we saw that she had good bladder control at night and went a week or two without any wet episodes, we swtiched to regular underwear, and even then she has had accidents here and there. You'll figure out the best thing to do for you guys!
Pull ups at night! :) He will start staying dry at night when his body is ready.
Hey Bethany, I went through this with Garrett (a long time ago...). I had a book that said to make them a sticker chart and tell them that if they were dry in the morning then they got to put a sticker on the chart. I thought, 'How stupid. He is not going to care a lick about a sticker." But, guess what - it totally worked. The book said that peeing during the night was not important enough to him to wake him up. So when I put the sticker incentive out there, it became more important and he either held it or woke up. And he was, and still is, a VERY deep sleeper. So maybe put on the pullups so you won't have to deal with mess, but if the pullup is dry, he gets a reward. Worth trying! Good luck!
love, Benay
Addy potty trained early and had to wear pull-ups at night for a year before she could make it all night....he'll get there! you are lucky to have a boy that potty trained so easy.
