Anybody know a good Hickory barber?

IMG_4005 copy

G got his haircut.

I searched and searched for 2 addresses I had written down for local barbers.

Hickory streets are insanely difficult to navigate. 2nd Ave SW, 19 St. NE, 31st Ave. NW. Everyone goes by landmarks up here. I understand why.

Anywho...I gave up my search for the barber when I spotted a "walk-ins welcome" hair place in a little strip mall. I should've known better.

G was assigned the young child who couldn't have cut more than 2 heads of hair.

We left with hair growing over his ears....and a rat tail (apparently G didn't look down long enough for hairgirl to spot the strand of hair that had been overlooked). Needless to say, I marched G back in and kindly asked for her to fix it. I couldn't let the little guy sport a rat tail.....it's not the 80s.

It actually looks okay today. But, I hope to find the barber next time.

Grands

IMG_3583 copy

I am a HUGE fan of the grands' visits.

Both sets.

Combined....I've got an early bird (you rock Grammy!!!!!), a professional putzer (Pappy, you putz with the best of them....and the kids love putzing around with you...), a kid at heart (Pop - you have no idea how much I need a break playing light brite, princess dolls, and freeze tag...), and a professional spoiler (Maw-maw, the kid's lack for nothing and you are to thank for that...otherwise, they would be toyless and forced to sleep in their own beds at night).

This past weekend, we had my set of parents in town.

First thing out the kid's mouths this past weekend when my parents came for a visit....."Can we wake up Pop and Maw-maw"?

Me: "ABSOLUTELY!"

Pop always eats cereal with the kids.

Raisan Bran. Everytime.

The kids wouldn't normally pick out raisan bran, but since Pop likes it, they like it as well.

It's SOOOO nice being able to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee and not have to worry what the kids are doing.

And with Pop, the fun continues all day long (poor mama-sita is still recovering from surgery and was forced to take it easy on the couch).

We live on the 18th fairway now. The kids have been practicing their golf swings, but I've noticed Allie prefers to cheer on the golfers.

I caught her outside this past weekend chanting (might I add the golfer was only 15 yards away), "Go golfer go, go golfer go, go golfer go".

(Sorry Mr. Golfer....and sorry all other golfers golfing River Crest.)

Pop is notorious for sneeking change into G's pockets. And it's the good change that buys gumballs.

So nice having the grands around. I'm thinking I need another break soon.....how about....next weekend? Oh wait.....Grammy is coming!!!

I can get used to this!

Missing our friends

IMG_3441 copy

We started off the day yesterday with Allie confessing how much she misses her friends. (I'm afraid I'm to blame for this....pretty sure she has overheard me talking to some of my friends about how much we miss them).

IMG_3512 copy

I've tried to encourage her to play more by herself....which she has gotten a lot better at. She played with her baby panda outside taking her for a stroll in a dumptruck and feeding her moss. She was perfectly content until....

IMG_3509 copy

....she spotted the children playing down the street. This little girl doesn't meet a stranger and considers any kid she comes in contact with an instant friend.

G was asleep inside, so ufortunately, she had to watch at a distance until he woke.

But once he did, a smile came across A's face as we headed down the street to meet new friends.

molars and bunkbeds

IMG_3285 copy

It's official. G is cutting his 2 year molars!

We noticed one of the top molars has popped through already. This explains A LOT of his behavior lately.

IMG_3348 copy

We had another "episode" at 3:00 a.m. a couple of nights ago.....where G screamed for 15 mintues. And we could do absolutely NOTHING to calm him down. He gave in during me serenading him with "twinkle, twinkle little star". He went from screaming....to singing with me....followed with a "night mommy" and him blowing me a kiss.

I blame the episode on the molars.

This is the set of bunkbeds that we got Gabe at the Broyhill outlet.

He LOVES them...

My mom thinks I will regret buying bunkbeds. I just think it will be fun for a little boy to grow up with bunks. So far, no buyer's remorse, and the kid's love them.

So long sucker

IMG_9876

(G-man SOOC because I have no time to edit right now.)

We are crazy busy unpacking and settling into our new home. But all is well and we are doing great.

The kids are surprising me by how well they are adjusting. They are both sleeping well and are in good spirits. Also brag-worthy (is this hyphenated?), is the fact that G's pacifier is gone. It didn't make the move and when he asked for it at our new home....we simply said, "don't have it buddy". He is napping great, sleeping great with my pacifier-free Gabe. So long sucker!!!

I can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel in regards to unpacking. S tackled the kids' rooms today and made huge progress! All we have left is the laundry room, dining room and to finish up the master bedroom.

I hit up the infamous Hickory Furniture outlets today. Deals to be had! And we had one....on a set of bunkbeds and dresser for G-man. Allie is already asking to sleep with Gabe in his new bunkbeds when they arrive.

Alright Patton friends....we are almost settled in.....our home is anxiously awaiting your arrival(s). Call now to book!

Time to move

It's time.

The house is bought. Everything we own is boxed, and we head out later today. Destination - Hickory, NC. And this time, it's for good.

Our sweet friends (thanks again "R" Family and all who contributed!) threw us a going away party. We had 40+ friends join us to say farewell. It's proving to be extremely difficult saying goodbye to everyone, but luckily, we are only a short 2 hr. drive north east and expect to see most of these guys in Hickory at some point!

I lost light quickly and took very few pics. But here is our fire pit where we had s'mores. (It's hunting season, and pretty sure Bob is boasting to C about his latest catch.)

Sweet sweet Isabella!

The cake, minus a few bites.

Gonna miss you all! But will see you soon.

Hickory - here we come!!!!!!!
