Company + Sickly PC

HIP_341076761.383827

(Look out other grandsons (oh yeah, you too J)....Gram has been getting a good spoiling here in the south!!)

I am currently posting on my mother-in-law's computer. My computer would not turn on last night and would only beep at me. It appears she is sick and is being sent back to Dell for either a tune-up or permanent retirement. I will be computerless for two weeks. This is going to be challenging for me.

Back to my mother-in-law. She is in town with her mother who are in for a long weekend visit. This is the first time Gram has been to visit us in the south. We have enjoyed Gram's company and hope we have spoiled her enough where she wants to come back and see us again.

Camping on the plains of Auburn

(Picture heavy post)

This trip will go down in the books as one of my favorites. As previously mentioned, this past weekend we loaded up the kids in a rented camper and headed towards the plains of Auburn University. We will always feel a tie to Auburn being alumni and having lived there for four years; it was refreshing to be back.

The weekend was filled with lots of tailgating enjoying the PERFECT weather that Auburn had to offer.

This was our home for the weekend - "Chateau". If you ask Allie what her favorite part about the weekend was, she will answer climbing on top of the camper.

It was tight quarters, but the camper was nice. The kids slept in, what I call, the overhang.

And here we have the view of our master quarters. The bed was surprsingly very comfortable and we all slept great.

We even got to hang out a bit with some old friends. Good to see you J (and B not pictured).

We happened upon Aubie and the band as we were walking to the stadium.

The game was a packed house. (And no, this guy never sat down.)

I was a little dissapointed we didn't get to all sit together...but it was nice sharing the game experience with Allie. She was really reserved at first and was looking around the stadium with an open jaw....taking it all in. Once the 2nd quarter rolled around, she was shaking her pom pom sining along with the songs/Auburn cheers. She told me her favortie part of the game was watching the cheerleaders.

Two nights were spent at Auburn and our third night was spent at Chattahoochee Bend state park in GA where we enjoyed more family time hanging out by a campfire, cooking out, playing board games with the kids, and taking walks down to the Chattahoochee.

Even though this was our first experience renting a camper, I hope it will not be the last. Until next year Chateau....

What an amazing weekend get-away to Auburn.

We rented a camper and set off with the kids to have a family weekend hanging out tailgating, playing games, and watching a little live football.

There seriously was not an inch to spare in the trunk. My husband is a master packer and can accomplish the impossible!

More photos to follow, but I did want to share a few from my phone.

Hickory Oktoberfest 10K

HIP_339773383.800253

A couple of girlfriends of mine/gym buddies ran a 10K with me this weekend.

We had a GREAT race! It always makes it easier to run when you run with people. These girls can run and it made the race go a lot smoother knowing they were right there with me pushing me through it.

These two are talking about running a half the first weekend in Dec. Oh well, we already have plans, but I do hope to cross that off my list soon.

I want to thank my sweet husband for dragging the kids out of bed a little early and into the cool air to cheer me on. It was a comfort knowing they would be there.

The kids were pretty impressed that mommy actually won a trophy; 2nd in my age group thank you very much.

My goal is always to simply run the entire race, which I did, but the course was quite hilly! That was definitely my challenge considering that I trained on a treadmill. I am unsure of my official time, but it was somewhere around 58 minutes.

Looking for my next challenge; races are addicting.

Buyer beware

mulch 045 copy

I need to google how to delete apps.

A receipt came through my email saying I had purchased 8 strawberries @ $.99 each to feed Talking Gina the Giraffe. ????? I've got a great idea of the culprit.

Beware! You don't always have to give your apple password for this kind of thing (which I thought you did).

Unsure exactly what this pose is....but he broke out in it when I asked to take his photo.

Our Terrific Kid

Two students were chosen out of each class and recognized as a "terrific kid" this week at Allie's school. Guess who was chosen out of her class???

As Allie stood on the stage in front of her elementary school, the following statement written by her teacher was read, "Allie brings a bit of sunshine to my classroom everyday. She is always smiling and eager to learn. Allie works hard to do her best in all that she does and is a joy to teach!"

I am so proud of our little girl doing well and loving school. We also recieved her progress report this week in which she scored the highest she could. Her teacher said she is a careful but hard worker and has adjusted well to kindergarten.

In our household if you have a birthday or special occasion you get to eat on the special day plate. Allie loved that!

However, I think the certificate for a free McDonalds happy meal was the icing on the cake.

SO proud of you Allie. Keep up the good work!

Ducks and Lima Beans

There were dishes in my sink, dirt on my floors, laundry in the hamper, and much more mulch to be spread.....but the hungry ducks at the park trumped it all.

Also noteworthy from today, G and I headed to the grocery. He picked out lima beans for a treat. Yes, you read that right.

He was hanging on to his frozen lima beans bag like it was candy. Seriously!

At the checkout he asked the cashier if he could hold on to it after she rang it up. Her response, "I've seen kids carry out a lot of stuff, but never lima beans".

G continued his excitement on our drive home still clenching his lima beans.

He patiently waited 25-30 mintues as they cooked on the stove. Finally when they cooled off enough to take his first bite....he announces (as he pushed his bowl towards me), "I don't like lima beans anymore".
