Waking Gabe

"Mornin' Mom".

I know I have posted pics before of Gabe waking up from his afternoon nap...but he is just so darn cute, I couldn't resist....again....
I play this game with him while he is in his crib. I'll duck down and crawl around to different sides of the crib and he has to find me. I was hiding on one of the ends of the crib when he poked his little head from behind the bumper and found me. In this pic, I am especially fond of the sun shining through his crazy bedhead hairs.

Have I mentioned he has a mullet? Seriously, I've got to take care of that before I get another mullet comment from a stranger...

Found me again. I crawled to the other end of the crib.

...and again....

Alright, I'll get you out now.

Next up, Allie's room. Gabe loves playing on this bed my Uncle Tom made for me when I was around Allie's age.

Normally this bed is full of stuffed animals, but Gabe had already unloaded them onto the floor.

Another favorite game of his...Where's Gabe?

There he is.

Where to next???

Super dad

Spring is here along with April showers. Well, its May now, but whatever. We've been seeing our share of rain lately. Stephen came home from work the other day and the kids and I were outside playing in the puddles.

I thought he would continue inside to change clothes and wind down after a long day at work...

....Not this super dad.

He rolled up his pant legs and joined the kids playing in the water. What a great daddy these two have!

My Mother's Day

I am the luckiest mom out there. I have the most wonderful husband the sweetest little munchkins. They were extra nice to me yesterday in honor of Mother's Day, and I must say, it was a GREAT day. Above is my Mother's Day present (Allie showed me its secret hiding place {guest closet} 2 days ago and tried to get me to open it. Lesson learned, don't let Allie in on secrets). I think it is beautiful and I am itching to hang it on our wall. Thank you for treating me like its Mother's Day year round. I love you all.

Whitewater Falls

Pappy and Grammy are here for a visit and they wanted to drive up to Whitewater Falls (just across the N.C. state line) to take pics of the waterfall. It should have been less than an hour journey....but, my fine navigation skills took us an hour out of the way! The waterfall was nice, but I was more concerned with snapping pics of the kids.

Backyard trees - before and after

This is our before shot of our backyard. There is A LOT that our backyard needs to get it looking like we want. Stephen has been taking it one phase at a time.

From Gabe's perspective.

We decided to plant 2 emily bruner hollies in both corners, and 6 T-olives staggered along the fenceline.

Little help here.

Stephen said he quickly learned to have 2 holes being dug at the same time. One for him to work on and one for Allie to work on.

Thanks for including Allie. I have a feeling she won't forget these special times spent with her daddy.
And this here, is, ?????. Stephen planted it last year hoping he could nurse it back life. What do you think? Looks like good kinling to me.
Drumroll.....

Ta-da. Here it is. A few years, lots of sun and water and I think it will be grand. Next phase is some smaller plans, bushes, whatever in front of the them and to make it a big bed with mulch. Pappy, bring those workin' hands.

Todays scare

We had a scare this morning. I was in Gabe's room grabbing some clothes for him to wear for the day, when I heard CRASH!!!!!! Followed were cries from both Allie and Gabe. They were in Allie's room playing and apparently Gabe had pulled up to her chest of drawers and pulled it over on top of them (the same chest of drawers in the "spring cleaning" post). When I walked in the room, I couldn't see them, they were both underneath the piece of furniture screaming. So, I picked up the chest of drawers and found them both lying on their backs crying. Allie sat up on her own and came over to me to be comforted, but Gabe was just laying there helpless. After a quick examination of his little body, I picked him up too and held the both of them in my arms until they settled down. I haven't been that scared in a long time. I was shaking and kept thanking God that they were okay. So, today I am thankful for my sweet kiddos who I couldn't love an ounce more. They mean the world to me and today made me realize just how fast everything could change.
